UP Theater Company

Back in 2010, James Bosley founded UP Theater Company in direct response to the lack of opportunities in the community for the many artists who call uptown home to act, write, direct and design in their own backyard. In his 10 years as Artistic Director, James led the company in developing and producing 12 world premieres, including three of his own plays, "All the Best Ingredients," "Broad Channel" and "Epic Poetry." His work as a dramaturg has helped dozens of playwrights develop their voices. James led UP Theater with an underlying belief in the power of theater - in its ability to challenge us to think outside of our comfort zones, and to gather together in conversation and shared respect.

His commitment to artists and to the community we share is unshakeable. UP Theater is honored to name James Bosley as our UPstanding Person of the Year.
